On Connect we have hundreds of demographics you can target on including age, gender, race and other general demographics, as well as more targeted questions such as relationship status and purchasing experience. If we already have the targeting, you are looking for on the platform, please select it when setting up the study in the demographic targeting area.
In cases where we do not have a demographic on Connect that you would like to target, please DO NOT include any in-survey screening. In-survey screening that kicks out participants without compensation violates our Terms of Service. Instead, please follow one of the below options to target a niche population:
1. Request that we add the demographic criteria you’re looking for to the platform. You can do so within the demographic targeting window of the project creation page. Once you add your question and answer options, we will add it to our demographic profiling section and have several qualified participants within about a week.
*After the demographic is added and fills up, there is no guarantee we will be feasible for the population you are looking for. Targeting with more demographics and/or adding quotas will lower study feasibility for these niche populations.*
2. Utilize our Completion Branches feature which allows you to terminate participants mid-survey for not meeting your criteria. You can include an in-survey screening question and compensate participants partially for their time despite not qualifying for the full study.

3. Run a longitudinal study with a paid screener and then a full study including the qualified Connect participants. You can also click here for tips when running a longitudinal study.

- Link the screener study to a survey asking the demographic questions you're hoping to target.
- All participants regardless of their answers should be approved and paid. You can set this study to low payment since it should be quick and easy. The site minimum is 2 minutes paying $0.2 (5$7.50/hour). Paying our baseline of $10/hour will allow for faster data collection.
- Take the Connect IDs of participants who would qualify for the full study and include them by their ID in the full study.
- Link the screener study to a survey asking the demographic questions you're hoping to target.
*Be sure you are collecting Connect IDs in both the screener and full study so you can match up participant responses*
