Connect participants may opt-in to receive email, SMS, and browser notifications. This alerts participants when a new study they qualify for is available to them, when a researcher may send them a message through the platform, or when a project they completed has been updated (ex: approved, rejected, bonused).
It is important to note, if you are not including participants by their Connect IDs for a follow-up or longitudinal study and sending them a message notification through the platform yourself, our system will not automatically send all qualified participants a notification to take the study., We base the notifications on a number of factors to ensure that all participants have a fair chance at completing studies on Connect, and you get a mix of different levels of participant experience.

How can I Notify a Participant I Included in a Project to Take it?
Including participants by their Connect IDs is done when running a re-contact or longitudinal study. When you include participants in a follow-up study by their Connect ID, you can send them a message notifying them to take the study. Once the study is launched, select the “...” button and then “Notify”.
A message box with all included participants who have not already completed/entered the study, will appear. You can customize the message. We will give you a permalink in the message that you can include in the message to participants which allows them to find the study on their dashboard without having to search for it.
Once the message is finalized, select the paper airplane button to send.
You can find all sent messages in your Conversations area.
In this Conversations area you can reply to participants they may have answered your message or create more messages to participants from scratch by selecting the “Compose” button. You can follow this article here which goes into further details about our messaging system.
In order for the "Notify" button to be available to you, the study must already be live, and the participants must have been included by Connect ID (not by project or participant group).
If you are including participants by project or participant group, you will need to manually send them a message in the Conversations area by composing a new message and pasting the Connect IDs of participants into the recipient section.
Will Participants Receive a Notification About my Message?
If a participant has opted-in to receive email or SMS notifications for messages, then they will receive a text or email whenever they receive a message on the platform.

If they have not opted-in to these SMS or email notifications for messages, then once they log into Connect, they will see a badge next to their Conversations area alerting them they have an unread message.
